When is the Best Time to Order and Send Your Wedding Stationery?

Are you currently in the process of planning your wedding and not sure when is the best time to order and send your stationery? To help you stay organised keep things on schedule we’ve pulled together a Wedding Stationery timeline to give you a rough idea on when you should be tackling each stationery element involved in your big day.

A Year in Advance

This is where the fun really begins! Get to work on gathering as much inspiration as you can and not just from other weddings. Remember, inspiration can come from anywhere so be open-minded as you never know where or when it might strike. That said, Pinterest is always a great place to start but just be warned, it’s extremely easy to loose hours of precious planning time to!


8 - 10 Months in Advance

Now is the perfect time to pop your save the dates in the post, these can be as minimally or as creatively as you wish. From a simple postcard to a full wall calendar (yes it’s been done!) it’s important to let your guests know your date as soon as possible so they don’t go booking a holiday or making alternative plans!

6 - 8 Months in Advance

With your wedding invitations next on the list to tackle it’s time to gather together any finer details you might need, maps, local hotels and taxi details to name just a few. Do you want to send out RSVP’s or detail cards? There’s so much more to think about than you might have first realised so it’s a good idea to get this sorted ASAP.

Remember to allow at least 4-6 weeks for the design, proofing, production and assembly of a bespoke order.

3- 6 Months in Advance

It’s finally time to let your guests get a sneak peak into the theme for your special day. Pop your invitations in the post and then all that’s left to do is eagerly await the RSVP’s landing back onto your doorstep.

3 Months to go

Your big day is edging ever closer, so now is the time to finalise your guest list. You’ll also need to order your on the Day Stationery as there are still the order of services, place names, menu cards and table plans to think about. These pretty paper items really help to style your venue and carry your chosen theme throughout the day.

0 - 3 Months Afterwards

Once the wedding is over and you’ve had some much-needed chill time on your honeymoon it’s time to send out your thank you cards. Don’t forget to take note of your guests gifts as personalised messages show that little bit of extra attention to detail!

Although there’s no right or wrong time to do any of these steps we would just say to ensure your stationer has plenty of time to complete the order to make everyone’s life as stress-free as possible!
